Photographing an individual who is close to you compared to a stranger can be quite a different experience. The top image is of my best friend, Elsa, whom I have known for ten years of my life, therefore we have been through many experiences together. The second image is of a new coworker named Mark who was more than willing to shoot with me. Working with Elsa was extremely comfortable and natural because she is used to me carrying around a camera and photographing her. As for Mark, it was a little uncomfortable just for the fact that he was so unsure of himself in front of the camera and we have not talked much at work. I felt as though I did not have pressure while shooting with Elsa as I did with Mark. I feel like the gaze in each photograph definitely gives one a sense of the relationship with the subject and the photographer.
